Heidelberg Colloquies on East Asian Art History
First circular
September 14. - 18., 2006

Dear Sir or Madam

Armed with support from the Balzan Foundation we plan to hold a colloquy at Heidelberg for junior researchers working on a PhD in East Asian art history. We will assemble about 15 participants from Europe, America, and the Far East and have them present their work in progress. The purpose is to learn about one others’ research and work towards international standards in the field.

A committee of senior specialists will go through the applications and make a selection.

Two or three senior scholars will lead the discussions during the meeting. Professor Craig Clunas FBA, of London has kindly agreed to give an evening lecture.

We ask about ten colleagues to encourage one or two of their students to apply. Independent applicants will also be considered. Every applicant must submit (via email)

-    an abstract of the thesis (not longer than 2 pages)
  and
-    a short CV.

Before May 30th, 2006.

The selection will be made by June 1st.

The colloquy will take place in Heidelberg from Thursday evening, 14 September to the afternoon of September 17th, 2006.
